Philanthropy 1. How Philanthropy can Transform an Honors Community Environment Given Limited Budgets

The Penn State University Schreyer Honors College recently renovated its main honors facility, Atherton Hall. The Schreyer Honors College used this as an opportunity to seek sponsorships for each room and space in its building. Senior Director of Development and Alumni Relations Sean Miller will share how the Schreyer Honors College worked with SHC colleagues and central University partners to receive approved naming opportunities in our two buildings, Atherton and Simmons Halls. In addition, Sean will share the marketing for the project and the plan to solicit prospects to name each space. Sean will also share how this was a unique opportunity for prospects to see their support directly impact the Scholar experience happening in our buildings, while prominently and permanently having their names attached to each space. Those who attend this talk will gain a greater understanding of how philanthropy can help transform an honors community environment while helping to defray the pressure renovation projects can have on current budgets.
